But here's what the 4.2-star clinic has that the 4.9 doesn't: a veterinarian who spent six years in a reptile research lab and is one of three vets in Calgary qualified to treat iguana metabolic bone disease. If you own an iguana with MBD, this is the only recommendation that matters. The 4.9-star clinic will tell you to find a specialist.
Star ratings collapse complex quality into a single number. For twenty years, that number was good enough because Google needed a ranking signal and consumers needed a shortcut. What a star rating actually measures

Share what you actually want. More weeknight covers? More commercial clients? Trying to fill a midweek gap? Launching a new service line? Seller intent is the signal that turns a generic recommendation into a warm match. An agent that knows you want Tuesday traffic will send you Tuesday customers. An agent that only knows your star rating will send you the same customers it sends everyone else.
The vet clinic in the Beltline with the 4.2-star rating? In an agent-driven world, it doesn't need better reviews. It needs its reptile specialization, its exotic animal capabilities, and its current availability structured and queryable.
